The Los Angeles Student Lighting Awards were established to encourage and recognize students in southern California who have shown an understanding of light and it's effect on Architecture. These awards have been established by the Illuminating Engineering Society of Los Angeles (IESLA) and the Designer's Lighting Forum of Los Angeles (DLFLA). The IES is an international organization whose purpose is to promote lighting education and to develop recommended lighting practices. The DLFLA is an organization whose purpose is to advance education in the field of lighting application and design.
It is in the spirit of the late David Evans, a constant supporter of the Southern California Lighting Industry and the late Saul Goldin, an electrical engineer, a lighting designer in Los Angeles since 1960, an architect and beloved teacher at USC and SCI-Arc, that these awards have been created.
Lighting competition information for year 2007 will be published later this year.
